Botox For Eyebrows

Filling your eyebrows with Botox? The idea isn’t as far-fetched as you might imagine. Since the 1970s, the potent neurotoxin Botox has been used in a variety of medical procedures, but few people realize that it also has a wide range of non-medical applications. Using Botox For Eyebrows is an example of an unusual application of the drug.

Dr. David Ebersole, a Chicago-area plastic surgeon, was kind enough to talk to us about Botox for eyebrows. That “some people have very strong muscles in their brows,” he said, “is what causes them to frown all the time.” You can’t frown after getting Botox for your eyebrows because “the muscles go completely limp and relax.” In other words, “stop frowning even if you’re upset, angry, or sad” if you get Botox for your eyebrows.

Dr. Ebersole assured us that it was highly efficient. Patients who came to me with deep frown lines often assumed it would take multiple sessions spread out over weeks or months before they saw any results. However, I was able to instantly get rid of those markings by erasing them.

Botox For Eyebrows

Facial wrinkles and a sagging eyebrow are two of the most obvious signs of aging. Many people find this extremely annoying because it makes them appear older than they actually are. Here in Boulder, Colorado, however, at Boulder Plastic Surgery, we can use Botox to help you look younger. This quick and painless cosmetic procedure will leave you with radiant skin and less visible wrinkles.

CAN BOTOX LIFT THE EYEBROWS?

Facial sagging, particularly in the area above the brow and across the forehead, is a common sign of aging. The medical term for this condition is “brow ptosis.” The effects can make one appear older than they really are, tired, angry, or sad. Upper-face structure is also susceptible to alteration. This is why it is a popular spot for cosmetic enhancements. However, this can be fixed with a Botox brow lift, resulting in smoother skin and a younger, more rested look.

Botox can help relax the muscles and smooth the skin above the eyebrows. Lifting the eyebrows and giving the impression of wider eyes is accomplished by tightening the muscles around the brow. When patients see themselves, they are ecstatic to see that they appear revitalized and refreshed. True, it involves more than just your brows. The versatility of this treatment makes it ideal for a wide range of aesthetic issues.

WHAT ELSE CAN BOTOX TREAT?

Dynamic Wrinkles

The deep lines on your face that become more pronounced with muscle movement are called dynamic wrinkles. These include crow’s feet, which appear around the eyes when one squints, and smile lines, which appear on the forehead and around the eyes when one smiles. They can make you look older than you are, which can make you feel uncomfortable in photos and cause you to stop expressing yourself naturally. Nobody should have to stifle their feelings like that! Fortunately, the treatment directly addresses the underlying cause of the issue—tight muscles. If the skin doesn’t crease when the underlying muscles are activated, then you can pull your face in any direction without worrying about dynamic wrinkles.

Other Deep Wrinkles

However, some lines remain even when our faces are at rest. Even now, this treatment is effective enough to get rid of those pesky wrinkles, especially the crow’s feet and forehead furrows. So, even in a neutral expression, your facial muscles will be more at ease, and your skin will feel smoother.

Minor Lines

Sometimes shallow lines can be as transformative to your appearance as deep ones. It’s not uncommon for people to develop creases in the forehead and eye area. As early as your twenties, you may start to notice them. With this method, they become beautifully pliable. In addition, if you treat these lines before they become too deep, you can stop them from getting any worse. And that’s why this treatment is so popular among young people who want to look their best for as long as possible.

HOW DOES THIS TREATMENT WORK?

Botox is effective because it contains a protein that prevents nerves from sending signals to facial muscles. A protein with this name is known as botulinum toxin type A. The muscles loosen up because the nerves aren’t telling them to do anything. Wrinkles and sagging are greatly diminished on top of them. Now, when you make expressions like frowning or raising your eyebrows, you won’t see a deepening of the lines or a tightening of the muscles.

HOW DOES ONE GET READY FOR TREATMENT?

The first thing to do is schedule a consultation at our stunning Boulder office. Tell us about your aesthetic issues and the results you’re seeking from treatment. By reviewing your medical records and examining the areas of your face that are giving you trouble, we can ensure that this treatment is a good fit for you. If it seems like a good fit, we can start working on your individualized treatment plan right away. We will also coordinate any pre-session instructions that may be necessary.

If I’m on Any Medication, Will I Need To Adjust It?

You can rest assured that the advice we give you in the consultation will be specifically tailored to your needs. However, patients should generally avoid blood-thinning medications before treatment. We may also ask that you refrain from taking certain supplements or herbal remedies for as long as a week before your session begins. As your session time draws near, you should also avoid drinking alcohol, as this can affect your blood.

What About My Skincare Routine?

Avoid using any heavy anti-aging creams or other skincare products on your face in the days leading up to your treatment, as they may cause irritation to the skin. Concerned about the safety of the products you’ve been using? Bring them up in your consultation and we’ll let you know if they’re okay to keep using. We also advise against any preemptive eyebrow treatments like tweezing, waxing, or bleaching. It’s important that the region not be overly delicate.

Should I Avoid Makeup?

In the days before your procedure, we won’t ask you to avoid wearing makeup. However, on that day, you must arrive without any makeup on your face. In addition, please keep all cosmetics and lotions away from the treatment areas. The needle must not come into contact with any unintended substances.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING TREATMENT?

During the first part of your appointment, you’ll relax in a private room at our clinic while we get to know each other from a distance. We’ll clean you up by sterilizing your face gently. A numbing cream could be applied to the area before we begin. This can take a few minutes, but it’s well worth the effort. We’ll begin injecting then. The number of injections you get and the amount of product we use are both variables that are determined by your aesthetic goals and your facial and tissue structure. The entire process takes no longer than fifteen minutes.

WHAT’S THE RECOVERY PERIOD LIKE?

Astonishingly, no recovery time is required after this procedure. Long periods of rest after a brow lift surgery mean missing out on time with coworkers, loved ones, and your workout routine. However, after receiving this quick injectable treatment, you can immediately resume your normal activities. Your own transportation is not required either to or from the appointment. Depending on your unique situation, we may provide you with more detailed guidance.

We might recommend that you move your face around to get the muscles warmed up again. About 60 minutes after your session, give this a shot. Injectables in the brow, for instance, might respond to an eyebrow lift or frown. Doing so will expedite the process of the product smoothing out your wrinkles and tightening your sagging skin.

Some activities should be avoided immediately following treatment as they have been shown to increase blood pressure. Physical exertion is prohibited, as is overexposure to heat in the form of sunbathing, hot tubbing, or saunaing. But don’t fret; it’ll only last for a few hours at most! For the next 24 hours, your treated skin should be left alone without being touched or rubbed. You should definitely avoid getting any facial massages at this time.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO SEE RESULTS?

Typically, patients see the effects of Botox after three to seven days, though this can vary from person to person. When this occurs, wrinkles and fine lines soften slightly. After about fourteen days, you should be able to see the full effects, such as a lifted brow, a lessening of fine lines, or the absence of severe lines as you move your face.

HOW LONG DO RESULTS LAST?

For the next three to four months, you’ll be sporting this stunning new look. Because of how much they adore their new appearance, many patients book follow-up visits. When the effects begin to fade, they can return for more injections to refresh their appearance. It’s interesting to note that it’s common for results to last longer after more frequent maintenance sessions. Over the course of several years, some patients who have been receiving this treatment may require fewer and fewer maintenance visits.

AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR THIS TREATMENT?

Lines and dynamic wrinkles on the face, or a drooping forehead that makes you look angry, old, or tired, are signs that you may benefit from this treatment if you’re over the age of eighteen. Anyone interested in a consultation is welcome, regardless of age, gender, or skin color. Since everyone is potentially vulnerable to the effects of aging, this treatment is universally applicable. It’s possible that Botox won’t be able to solve your skin problems because you’re not a good candidate for treatment due to factors like pregnancy, a preexisting medical condition, or medication. Fortunately, Boulder Plastic Surgery provides excellent options for alternate treatments, all of which we would be happy to discuss with you.

WHAT ARE SOME GOOD ALTERNATIVES TO THIS TREATMENT?

Though it’s a fantastic product, Botox might not be the best choice for you. Loss of collagen and elastin in the body is likely to be the cause of deep folds caused by sagging skin, so relaxing your muscles may not do much to soften them out. It’s possible that restoring the skin’s plumpness and suppleness will require a different approach, one that involves adding volume to the skin. Wrinkles will be smoothed out and sagging skin lifted, particularly in the cheeks and jaw. Skin fillers like Juvederm and Restylane allow us to achieve this.

Hyaluronic acid, the active ingredient in these injectables, helps restore the skin’s elasticity so that they can be used to do everything from fill in wrinkles and folds to reshape the jawline by lifting sagging jowls. For a more enticing grin, it can also be used to treat the lips and give them a natural-looking boost. During your consultation, we will go over the various dermal fillers and explain why we think one might be better suited to your cosmetic concerns than the others.

Ready To Say Goodbye to Drooping Eyebrows and Deep Lines?

Botox may be the answer if you’re sick of people mistaking you for someone else and want your face to reflect the real, gorgeous you. Your muscles will loosen up and your skin will glow as a result, making you feel and look years younger. And we’re here to lend a hand.
