Breast Augmentation in Las Vegas

Thousands of women a year opt for breast augmentation, making it one of the most frequently performed cosmetic surgeries. Breast Augmentation in Las Vegas.

There are several methods for performing breast augmentation surgery, the most popular of which is the use of breast implants. A silicone gel or saline implant is inserted behind the pectoral muscle through a small incision made under the breast in this procedure.

Breast augmentation is intended to boost one’s sense of well-being by creating a more balanced appearance. Also, after undergoing this procedure, you may feel more confident in skimpy outfits and bathing suits.

In this article, we’ll look at some of the positives of getting breast implants for aesthetic purposes.

Breast Augmentation

You are not alone if you are dissatisfied with the size and/or shape of your breasts. McCormack Plastic Surgery offers a wide variety of breast augmentation procedures because it is one of their most requested services. Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure that uses saline or silicone implants to improve the size, shape, and symmetry of your breasts. Tiffany McCormack, MD, our female plastic surgeon, is committed to giving you a natural look and feel that will boost your self-esteem without making you look unnatural.

Breast augmentation is performed for a variety of reasons, including restoring the natural shape and size of the breasts after they have shrunk from breastfeeding or weight loss, increasing the size of the breasts so that they are more in line with the rest of the body, and bringing equal proportion to breasts of varying sizes. However, your motivations are entirely individual and valid. To decide whether or not to get breast implants, you should think carefully about what you hope to achieve.

What are the Benefits of Breast Augmentation?

Women who want to improve the way they look can take advantage of a number of benefits by undergoing breast augmentation. Depending on what you want to achieve, implants can:

  • Increase breast size and fullness
  • Restore lost volume caused by pregnancy, weight fluctuations, or simply aging
  • Enhance the curvature, contour, and symmetry of the breasts
  • Make the breasts more proportionate to your frame
  • Improve the look and fit of certain tops, swimsuits, and bras
  • Boost your self-confidence in social and intimate settings

Types of Breast Implants

There are a wide variety of breast implants to choose from. The appropriate size for you depends on your measurements and the overall look you want to achieve. Dr. McCormack will take the time to talk to you about your goals for the procedure and take measurements to help you select an implant that complements your physique while still giving you the distinctive look you’re going for. Saline Implants image

Saline Implants

Patients over the age of 18 are eligible to get saline breast implants from the FDA. The saline (saltwater) solution inside gives the breasts a natural, rounded shape. Saline implants, as opposed to silicone ones, show signs of damage or leakage more obviously. Even if an implant were to rupture, the saline solution would usually be harmlessly absorbed by the body.

Silicone Implants

Silicone implants have a silicone gel fill and are approved by the FDA for use in patients over the age of 22. Compared to saline prostheses, these implants are known to be firmer and more lifelike to the touch. The very natural shape that can be achieved with silicone implants is another major selling point. In the extremely unlikely event of rupture, silicone implants tend to retain their original form.

Form-Stable Implants image

Form-Stable Implants

Form-stable, or “gummy bear,” implants typically provide a teardrop-shaped breast contour. They are made of a thicker silicone gel when compared to silicone implants and can be especially natural-looking for patients who lack fullness in the upper poles of the breasts. Form-stable implants may also minimize the risk of implant rippling and implant rupture.

IDEAL IMPLANT® image

IDEAL IMPLANT®

When discussing an IDEAL IMPLANT®, it is common to refer to it as “structured saline,” which means that the implant is made up of saline solution that is encased in multiple layers of silicone. An IDEAL IMPLANT® has the realistic feel of silicone implants but the predictability of saline, earning it a reputation for producing very natural results. In the event of a leak or rupture, these implants should clearly deflate, negating the need for routine MRI scans.

Besides varying in size and form, breast implants also come in a variety of profiles, each of which provides a unique degree of projection. There are low-profile, medium-profile, and high-profile options for breast implants. High profile implants are made for a smaller chest and project the most forward. Dr. McCormack will explain the variations in implants and help you decide which is best for you.

Where are Breast Augmentation Incisions Located?

Breast implants can be inserted through incisions made around the areola, under the arms, or in the lower fold of the breasts, depending on the patient’s body type and the desired size of the breast augmentation. You’ll get the lowdown on the incision site Dr. McCormack thinks is best for you. Remember that silicone gel breast augmentation requires a larger incision than saline breast augmentation.

Breast Implant Placement

There are two possible implant placements for a breast augmentation: submuscular/subpectoral (below the muscle) or subglandular (above the muscle). If there is enough breast tissue and skin to hide the implant, subglandular placement can be highly effective. However, if there isn’t enough tissue and skin, the implant may stick out or cause rippling. Submuscular placement is usually preferable for patients who do not have enough skin and tissue coverage. This position has been shown to reduce the likelihood of noticeable rippling due to the implants’ weight as well as the improved soft tissue coverage it provides.

Both subglandular and subpectoral implant placement have their benefits and drawbacks, and you and Dr. McCormack can discuss them in detail during your consultation to help you decide which method is best for you.

How is the Breast Augmentation Procedure Performed?

Dr. McCormack will begin the breast augmentation procedure by making incisions in the predetermined areas. Through these incisions, the chosen breast implants are positioned either below or above the pectoral muscle. When Dr. McCormack is satisfied that the breasts are shaped just right, he will carefully close the incisions with tiny surgical sutures.

When breast augmentation is performed as part of a Mommy Makeover, it is common for additional procedures, such as a breast lift, to be performed at the same time, increasing the total treatment time by as much as two hours. When a procedure is done on an outpatient basis, the patient usually goes home the same day with the help of a loved one.

What is Recovery From Breast Augmentation Like?

Most women who undergo breast augmentation surgery do so as an outpatient, and after only a week or two they are back at their desks. A breast augmentation procedure can leave you feeling tired and sore for a few days. There’s a chance you’ll experience persistent chest pain. We advise that you take it easy for the first two weeks to reduce your risk of complications like hematoma (bleeding around the implant). For six to eight weeks after breast augmentation, it’s best to take it easy. We will prescribe antibiotics to lessen the likelihood of infection, and we’ll show you how to massage your breasts in a certain way after surgery so that they heal quickly, look natural, and don’t get stiff from the antibiotics (excess scarring around the implant from the inside).

For several weeks after surgery, it is normal for patients to experience a temporary increase in breast height and swelling before their breasts “drop” back to their original position. It is completely normal for one breast to fall before the other. Your nipple or areola may feel numb at first, but the sensation is usually caused by swelling and goes away on its own. Certain patients will be doomed to live with permanent numbness or loss of sensation.

How Long Do Breast Implants Last?

While breast implants are not designed to be lifetime devices, they can provide long-lasting results for decades. Breast implants usually do not have to be replaced unless you desire a different size/type of implant in the future, or unless a complication arises. These may include the development of scar tissue around an implant (capsular contracture) or implant rippling—the ability to see or feel an implant’s edges. In either case, a breast revision procedure can be pursued if necessary to address any issues with breast implants or to fulfill a change in your preferences. Dr. McCormack recommends regular breast screenings and wellness exams to help ensure your implants are still in good condition.

How Much Does Breast Augmentation Cost?

The average cost of breast augmentation typically ranges from $7000 – $8500, which includes associated surgical fees for the anesthesia, operating facility, and other related expenses. However, breast augmentation is priced according to the unique details of your treatment plan, including the type of implants chosen, the surgical technique utilized, and the overall complexity of your procedure. For this reason, an accurate cost estimate cannot be determined until you have a consultation with Dr. McCormack.

In addition to the major methods of payment, McCormack Plastic Surgery accepts financing plans from qualified patients who prefer to pay for their procedure in a series of manageable installments. This is offered through highly reputable healthcare lending institutions like CareCredit®, ALPHAEON™ Credit, and Prosper® Healthcare Lending. Each financing company offers low- to no-interest payment plans that can be chosen based on a patient’s budgetary concerns. We would be happy to assist you with any other questions or concerns related to the cost of breast augmentation. Please call our office at (775) 284-2020 to speak to a friendly member of our team.

Will I Have Visible Breast Augmentation Scars?

Scarring is unavoidable after surgery, but the incision technique used for your breast augmentation may result in barely noticeable scars. If your implants were placed through an incision made around the areolas, the pigmentation difference between the skin and nipples may help conceal any scarring. Incisions made along the breast crease can also usually be concealed by the breast’s natural contour. You should only be able to see your scar when you raise your arms if it was made along a natural crease in your underarm. It’s important to avoid touching up the breasts themselves. When possible, Dr. McCormack makes incisions in less visible areas to reduce the visibility of surgical scars.

Is Breastfeeding Still Possible After Breast Augmentation?

If you can breastfeed now and plan to continue doing so after breast augmentation, you should be able to do so provided your plastic surgeon follows all safety protocols. Some women simply don’t have the ability to produce enough milk for breastfeeding, and if they haven’t tried to breastfeed before breast augmentation and then find they can’t do so afterward, they may mistakenly attribute their inability to do so to the implants.

Breast Augmentation Plus Lift image

Breast Augmentation Plus Lift

Breast implants are used to enhance natural breast size; however, it is important to note that implants may not be able to adequately lift the breasts or reverse the effects of pregnancy, weight loss, or skin stretching when used alone. Dr. McCormack may recommend a breast lift (mastopexy) in conjunction with breast augmentation for the best possible outcome. A breast lift with implants, also known as a breast augmentation with a lift, is a surgical procedure that does two things at once: it increases the size of your breasts and it moves them to a younger position on your chest wall. Check out our breast augmentation and lift page for more information on this combined procedure.
