The XDM has a magwell that’s too wide for standard Glock magazines. This makes it tough to get the magazine in place, especially if you’re using a +1 baseplate and even more so if you’re using a +2 baseplate. The +1 baseplate helps significantly with this issue, but it’s still not as easy as it could be.
The XDM also has a stiffer recoil spring than most other 9mm pistols. This means that if you drop your unloaded pistol on its muzzle or something like that, it will cock itself and chamber a round! So it’s important that you don’t do that or else you may shoot yourself in the foot (or worse).

The XDM 9/40 is a great gun, and the laser makes it even better. The XDM line has always been known for being very accurate and reliable, and the addition of a laser just enhances that reputation. The gun itself is very well made, with great fit and finish. The trigger is smooth and fairly light for a striker fired gun. It’s not an S&W M&P or Glock trigger, but it’s not bad either. I’ve put about 500 rounds through mine so far without any issues whatsoever.
The laser itself is very easy to install and use. Once you get the grip panels off (which are held on by screws), you simply remove one screw from the bottom of the grip, slide it on, tighten down the screw and replace the grip panel. No tools required!
