-Go back to see your surgeon to have him/her evaluate your concerns
-Consider using a compression garment (basically an elastic bandage that is worn under your clothes) for support and to help reduce swelling and bruising. This is the only recommendation that has any scientific evidence behind it, but there are many different types on the market so make sure you get one that fits well and does not cause discomfort.
-Keep moving as much as possible during recovery so that lymphatic drainage can occur normally (this means working out if possible). If you have any concerns about this, check with your surgeon first before beginning physical activity or exercise programs.
There is some bruising on both sides of my stomach near my belly button, but it’s not very noticeable at this point. However, I do feel like there is still some swelling going on in that area and that it will take longer than two weeks for things to settle down completely.

Often the first thing a patient sees when they look down at their abdomen after surgery is a large area of bruising.
