Tummy Tuck incision line? All patients have some swelling above their incision line after a Tummy Tuck. This is caused by the division of the lymphatic vessels that drain the abdominal skin and fat of the natural fluid that leaks out of our working muscles.
Bulge Above Incision After Tummy Tuck
The most important thing is to be patient and not rush things. My patients generally start to feel better with activity after 2-3 weeks and then their energy level improves dramatically by 4-6 weeks. The body needs time to heal from surgical trauma and it takes a while for the muscles around the incision to relax so that they do not pull on it or rub against it.
You should avoid any lifting or pushing activities for at least 6 weeks after surgery but if your incision is still very painful, you may need more rest after that time period has passed.
If you are still having problems with your incision at 4 weeks postop, you should see your plastic surgeon again so that he/she can examine your scar and make sure that there is no infection present and that it is healing properly.
The scars from a c-section can be treated with various options including laser treatments and surgical revision as long as they are not too old. The best way to determine whether you are a candidate for tummy tuck is to schedule an appointment with your plastic surgeon and discuss your concerns.
I had my first child via c-section, then a second one naturally, so I have two different kinds of scars on my abdomen (one from the cesarean section and one from the natural delivery). Will my doctor be able to fix these two different types of scarring at the same time? Can I expect both scars to look better after surgery?
You should be able to have both scars corrected during the same procedure without any problems or difficulties. Your plastic surgeon will be able make sure that both scars are removed at once so that they are gone forever.
A c-section scar is usually easily hidden by clothing and you can get a small tattoo on top of your incision if you want to cover it.
The tummy tuck scar will be more visible but will fade over time.
There is no way to know how long it will take for either scar to heal completely as this depends on many factors including the size of your belly, your skin type, how well you followed post-operative instructions, etc.
Hip Bulge After Tummy Tuck
After a tummy tuck, you will see a small bulge of skin above the hip. This is normal and will go away over time. The reason it happens is that the muscle was tightened and pulled down during the procedure. As it heals, it will loosen up again and become flat.
The best way to help this happen is to do your exercises as instructed by your surgeon. If you need additional guidance, your surgeon can send you home with some printed instructions on what exercises to do and how often to do them.
The most common type of tummy tuck surgery is the traditional incisional approach. This involves making an incision along the lower abdomen and then removing skin and fat from the lower abdomen and waistline. It’s also possible to have both upper and lower body lifts done at once (known as a circumferential body lift) but this is much more complicated because it requires repositioning muscles as well as skin removal.
For women with excess skin, fat deposits, stretch marks or other concerns around the hips, buttocks or thighs, it’s also possible to do a mini-abdominoplasty which removes only excess skin, leaving muscles and other tissues intact.
While not everyone wants or needs additional surgery on their hips after having a tummy tuck, some people find that they still need more work done in this area due to specific conditions such as muscle imbalances or joint issues that affect how well they can move around their bodies after losing weight from dieting or bariatric surgery.
Pseudobursa After Tummy Tuck
A c-section after tummy tuck is not very common and can be done for a number of reasons. The most common reason is if there is a need for an urgent delivery or if the pregnancy was high risk. A c-section can also be performed if the patient has had previous abdominal surgeries or other health issues that are contraindicated with vaginal delivery.
Patients who have had a c-section before may choose to have another one in order to prevent scarring from multiple surgeries on their abdomen. This is most often done when there are no other options available to the patient.
During a tummy tuck, it is important to understand that your skin will be pulled tighter than normal due to the removal of excess fat and skin that has been stretched out over time by weight gain or pregnancy. This means that it will take longer for your body to heal following surgery, especially if you have previously had extensive liposuction done on your abdomen or waist area.
My tummy tuck was performed by Dr. Steven Strom on January 10th, 2011. I had my c-section on May 26th, 2010 and after about 6 weeks, I started to feel like my belly button was flat and sunken. It looked like it was just scooped out and not sewn back in correctly. It also felt like there was something inside of it that wasn’t supposed to be there (I am guessing this was the stitches). I went to see Dr. Strom about this and he said that he would need to do some additional work on it so that it would look natural again. He said he could do it at the same time as my tummy tuck (which is what I needed) but that if he did it separately, then it would cost an additional $1,400 dollars! He did mention that this would take longer than if he were doing both procedures at once because he would have to remove all the old scar tissue first before sewing me back up again.
